Real Name: Norrin Radd.

A native of the planet Zenn-La, Norin Radd consented to become the herald of Galactus in order to save his home world from the world-eater. Now known as the Silver Surfer, Radd served his new master loyally until the two travelled to the planet Earth, where Radd rebelled to assist the Fantastic Four in repelling Galactus. Faced with possible destruction at the hands of Mr. Fantastic and the Ultimate Nullifier, Galactus freed his herald from his sworn duties, but punished him by erecting a barrier that trapped Radd on Earth. After a period of time that saw Radd trapped on Earth, the barrier was broken by Mr. Fantastic, and later removed by Galactus himself.

Radd possesses tremendous control over the power cosmic; some of the many ways he can channel the power include energy projection, superhuman endurance and the ability to survive in the vacuum of space and without oxygen, food or water. He possesses a surfboard given to him by Galactus that allows him to fly at speeds near the speed of light. The surfboard responds to Radd's thoughts, and can be commanded to fly independently of Radd himself.

In his new form, Radd's skin is completely hairless and coloured in a uniformly metallic silver sheen. Although his form is humanoid, he possesses no distinguishable characteristics or visible genitalia.

Radd is a reluctant member of the Defenders, and a former member of the Titans Three, the Secret Defenders, the Star Masters and the Order.
