Origin

A professional mercenary with a secretive past, Paladin provides his notable expertise for anyone who can meet his high cost, while still adhering to a strict personal code of ethics. He is a devoted romantic, known for going out of his way to seduce nearly any pretty woman who crosses his past. In the past, he has dated Janet Van Dyne (the Wasp), and flirted relentlessly with Diamondback while she was having relationship trouble with her boyfriend, Captain America.

Paladin has worked extensively for Silver Sable (herself a beautiful woman), though in recent years he has stuck to freelance work. Paladin teamed with Generation X to recover a sword for Adrienne Frost, during which time he briefly won the attraction of Jubilee. He then disappeared for a time, resurfacing when he disabled Daredevil long enough for the Federal government to arrest him, evading the hero's radar senses by firing on him with a sniper rifle from a hovering helicopter.

Following the passing of the Superhuman Registration Act by congress, Paladin registered and joined the reformed Heroes for Hire, working in conjunction with the government to hunt down fugitive superhumans.

Powers

Paladin possesses slightly superhuman strength, speed, agility and endurance- under optimal conditions, he can lift approximately one ton. He is also a skilled hand to hand combatant, marksman and gymnast, and an experienced actor, bodyguard, spy and detective.

Though paladin has been known to kill if his assignment requires doing so, he prefers to use a specially designed stun gun. This weapon emits a charge that temporarily scrambles the target's nervous system, rendering them completely helpless. It is equipped with a special safety guard that prevents anyone but Paladin from using it.

Paladin wears a special suit made of lightweight nylon, with pads of Kevlar protecting his head, torso and far extremities. The suit's helmet has a retractable face plate (activated by a button on his belt) and an hour long oxygen supply, as well as retractable night-vision lenses.

Affiliations

Paladin is a member of the current incarnation of Heroes for Hire. He was formerly romantically linked to the Wasp and possibly Diamondback.
