Havok
From Cassius Comics
Real Name: Alexander "Alex" Summers.
Birthplace: Anchorage, Alaska.
Physical description: 6'0", 175lbs. / Brown eyes, short blonde hair.
First Appearance: X-Men #54 (March 1969).
Origin
When their plane was attacked by a Shi'ar scout ship, Christopher and Catherine Summers were forced to take drastic steps to protect their sons Scott and Alex. Allowing themselves to be captured by the alien force, Catherine and Christopher (who would go on to become the space-pirate Corsair) distracted the Shi'ar long enough for Scott and Alex to escape by parachute. Both boys were hurt in the crash, but while Scott lingered in a coma for more than a year, Alex was released from the hospital after two weeks, at which point he was separated from Scott and placed in an orphanage in Omaha, Nebraska. The Summers brothers maintained sparse contact over the years, but Alex remained unaware of the double life that Scott became involved in as the X-Man Cyclops.
Alex graduated from college with a degree in geo-physics, and while continuing his studies his latent mutant powers began to manifest. An archaeology professor and fellow mutant named Ahmet Abdol discovered that he and Alex shared a psychic link, which was somehow blocking Abdol's own powers. Abdol kidnapped Alex and brought him to Egypt for experimentation, eventually managing to shield Alex from the ambient cosmic energy that powers him. Abdol transformed into the Living Monolith and battled the X-Men who had come to secure Alex's release, although Alex himself defeated Abdol when his powers reasserted themselves. His powers now raging out of control, Alex chose to stay in the desert where he remained in seclusion until he was abducted by a Sentinel who brought him to Larry Trask.
With Alex as his prisoner, Trask dubbed him "Havok" and provided him with a costume complete with a chest plate that displayed the current amount of radiation found within Alex's body. The X-Men once again freed Alex and brought him back to America, where he finally gained control over his powers. Alex joined the group but was never truly happy there; he eventually left the team along with his teammate Lorna Dane (Polaris), and the two settled down to what they hoped would be a peaceful civilian life. They came out of retirement to help form X-Factor, of which Alex was the leader.
A few years later, Alex was seemingly killed, but was in fact thrown into an alternate dimension (the Mutant X reality), wherein he was the leader of the Six and married to Madeline Pryor. Alex eventually returned to the 616 universe where he became the leader of a team of X-Men, including Polaris; however, he soon fell in love with another woman, sending Polaris dangerously close to a complete mental breakdown.
Powers
Alex Summers possesses the mutant ability to absorb and store ambient cosmic energy, and to release it as concussive waves of plasma. These destructive waves radiate out from his body in all directions unless Alex purposely channels them, often directing the waves along the lengths of his arms. The act of limiting the plasma waves in a specific direction is requires Alex's intense concentration, and drains not just his energy stores but also his physical stamina. The force behind Alex's plasma waves ranges from the force of 3 to 250 pounds of dynamite, enough to decimate a city block. Alex continuously absorbs ambient cosmic energy, and to fully replenish his power after completely exhausting himself takes approximately 16.5 hours. Once his stores of energy are full, additional energy absorbed by Alex is immediately and harmlessly re-emitted out of his body.
Alex is an athletic man, and possesses above average strength, speed and stamina; in the past he excelled at track and field events. As an X-Man, Alex has had notable combat training, but he is an unexceptional hand to hand combatant.
Affiliations
Alex Summers is the leader of a team of X-Men and the former leader of X-Factor and the Six. He is Polaris' former lover, Cyclops' brother and the former brother-in-law of both Phoenix (Jean Grey) and her clone Madeleine Pryor; In an alternate reality, he was Pryor's husband.
