Deadpool

Real Name: Jack (last name unknown). Alias Wade Wilson.

A psychotic mercenary named Jack, the man who would become Deadpool convinced himself that he was Wade Wilson after nearly killing the real Wilson and his wife. After developing cancer, "Wilson" became a pawn of Weapon X, who infused him with an artificial copy of Wolverine's healing factor, keeping Wilson alive but leaving him horribly scarred. As a prisoner of the project, Wilson was regularly tortured for the guards' amusement, unhinging his already delicate mind. The guards began taking bets in a "dead-pool" about what would finally kill Wilson, but he escaped and adopted the term as his new alias. Wilson resumed his mercenary work and occasionally attempted to make up for his past sin, although his sense of good and evil are drastically skewed. Wilson was recently thought to be dead for a time, but in fact he had merely been gravely injured, and most of his power had been inadvertently transfered to Agent X and the Black Swan. Wilson and Agent X teamed with Taskmaster and Crazy Inez to kill the Swan, after which Wilson regained the full spectrum of his powers. In the aftermath of the battle, the four decided to form a proper mercenary business named after Agent X, but it is unclear if the venture ever made it off the ground. Wilson has recently begun to spend the majority of his time teaming with his former arch nemesis Cable. When Cable was seemingly killed in battle against Skornn, Wilson contacted Forge, who equipped him with an inter-dimensional teleporter. Accompanied by Cable's former teammates Siryn and Cannonball, Wilson traveled to numerous realities including a variation of the Age of Apocalypse in which Cable was one of Apocalypse's Horsemen. Wilson and the others finally returned to the 616 universe during the period of time in which the Scarlet Witch had unconsciously altered the entire world. Wilson found an infant Cable under the care of a seemingly docile Mr. Sinister, although the villain was soon revealed to be as evil and manipulative as ever.

Wilson's healing factor can repair any wound at a greatly increased speed, cure any disease and counteract any poison; it also keeps his cancer in check, but is unable to repair the massive scarring of his body that the cancer has caused. Wilson carries a variety of weapons and tools, most often including twin katana swords, a number of guns, an image inducer and a belt containing a teleportation device. He is an accomplished hand-to-hand combattant with experience in the art of Sumo wrestling.

Wilson is a former member of the Frightful Four, the pawn of Weapon X and Landau, Luckman and Lake and a former agent of Tolliver and Hellhouse. He is Copycat's former lover, and he engaged in an unspecified sexual relationship with the physical manifestation of Death#.
